The diagram below shows the basic operating cycle of a Dosatron dosing pump. As water enters the unit, it drives the internal piston, which creates the suction needed to draw concentrate into the body of the pump. The product is then mixed with the passing water and discharged downstream as a consistent solution.

Step-by-Step: How the Dosatron Doses

  • Step 1. Water Enters the Unit

    Water enters the Dosatron through the inlet connection and begins flowing through the body of the pump. This incoming water provides the energy required to operate the unit.

  • Step 2. The Hydraulic Motor Activates

    As water moves through the Dosatron, it drives the internal hydraulic motor. This piston-like movement powers the dosing action and keeps the injection process proportional to the flow of water.

  • Step 3. Concentrate is Drawn from the Solution Tank

    The movement of the motor creates suction, which draws concentrated product up through the suction hose from an external container. This can be fertiliser, medication, detergent, sanitiser, or another compatible liquid additive.

  • Step 4. The Product is Injected and Mixed

    The concentrated product is injected into the water stream inside the Dosatron body at the selected ratio. This creates a uniform and consistent solution ready for application.

  • Step 5. Mixed Solution Exits the Unit

    The dosed solution then exits the unit through the outlet connection and continues downstream into the irrigation, drinking water, washdown, or treatment system.
