Getting Started with Dosatron Installation

Dosatron dosing pumps are designed to be installed directly into a water line, using water flow alone to operate the dosing mechanism. With the correct setup, they provide accurate and reliable injection for a wide range of applications including fertigation, livestock medication, washdown, greenhouse irrigation, water treatment, and industrial dosing.

While installation requirements may vary depending on the application and system layout, the basic principles remain the same. Correct positioning, water flow direction, filtration, and accessibility are all important to ensure reliable operation and long-term performance.

Common Installation Accessories

  • Inline filters

  • Mounting brackets

  • Bypass assemblies

  • Suction tubes and foot valves

  • Connection fittings and adaptors

  • Isolation valves and unions

Basic Installation Principles

  • Install the unit in the correct flow direction
  • Ensure the pump is matched to the system flow range
  • Mount the unit in an accessible position for adjustment and maintenance
  • Use appropriate filtration upstream where required
  • Ensure suction tubing is correctly connected to the concentrate tank
  • Confirm all fittings and connections are secure before operation

General Installation Overview

  • Position the Pump in the Water Line

Install the Dosatron directly into the main water line in the correct orientation, following the flow direction marked on the unit.

  • Connect the Inlet and Outlet

Connect the inlet and outlet fittings securely, ensuring the pipework is properly supported and aligned.

  • Connect the Suction Tube

Attach the suction tube to the chemical, fertiliser, or treatment solution container and ensure it is positioned correctly for uninterrupted product draw.

  • Check Filtration and Water Quality

Where required, install suitable filtration upstream to help protect the unit and maintain reliable operation.

  • Set the Dosing Ratio

Adjust the pump to the desired dosing ratio based on the product being injected and the application requirements.

  • Test the System

Run water through the system and confirm that the Dosatron is operating correctly, drawing product properly, and delivering the expected dosing performance.

 Important Things to Consider

  • The pump must operate within its specified flow and pressure range
  • Chemical compatibility should be confirmed before installation
  • The unit should be installed where it is protected from damage, impact, or unsuitable environmental conditions
  • Allow enough room for servicing, adjustment, and routine maintenance
  • Use the correct accessories and fittings for your specific application
  • Always follow manufacturer recommendations for setup and operation

When to Ask for Advice

Many Dosatron pumps can be installed by farmers, growers, technicians, and maintenance staff with basic plumbing knowledge. However, for more complex systems or specialised applications, it may be beneficial to seek advice before installation to ensure the pump is selected and configured correctly.

This is especially important for larger systems, chemical-sensitive applications, or setups where flow rate, pressure, and dosing requirements need to be carefully matched.
