Product Overview
150mm flanged dirt box with a removable stainless steel strainer for protecting downstream water meters from dirt, debris and fibrous contamination.
The RMC 1N113 Meter Dirt Box helps protect Woltman and other compatible downstream water meters from large suspended particles and fibrous contamination carried through water pipelines. These contaminants can affect the measuring characteristics of Woltman meters and accumulate around the meter bearings.
Its stainless steel strainer can guard against particles as small as approximately 5mm, helping prevent contamination from reaching the downstream meter and reducing debris accumulation around the measuring mechanism and bearings.
The removable strainer insert provides straightforward access for inspection, cleaning and maintenance. The 150mm model has a maximum operating pressure of 1,600kPa and is suitable for cold-water applications up to 50°C.
The dirt box is designed for installation upstream of a water meter to provide additional protection against dirt and debris. RMC specifies the product for utility use only and it does not carry WaterMark approval.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the RMC 1N113 Meter Dirt Box do?
It captures large suspended particles, fibrous contamination and debris before they reach a downstream water meter. This helps protect the meter's measuring characteristics and bearings.
What size particles can it capture?
RMC states that the dirt box can guard against particles as small as approximately 5mm. It is intended for coarse debris protection rather than fine water filtration.
Where should the dirt box be installed?
Install it upstream of the water meter, following the direction of flow. The removable strainer should remain accessible for inspection and cleaning.
How often should the stainless steel strainer be cleaned?
The cleaning frequency depends on the amount of debris in the water. Inspect the strainer regularly after installation and clean it whenever debris accumulation begins restricting flow or increasing pressure loss.
What are the dimensions of the RMC 150mm dirt box?
The 150mm model has an overall length of 300mm, height of 277mm and flange diameter of 285mm. It has a 240mm bolt circle diameter and uses 8 bolts with a 23mm bolt diameter.
Is the RMC 1N113 WaterMark approved?
No. RMC states that the dirt box is approved for utility use only and does not carry WaterMark approval.
