Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Tefen MixRite TF2.5 used for?
The MixRite TF2.5 is a water-powered proportional dosing pump designed to inject additives directly into a water or fluid line. It is commonly used for fertigation, livestock dosing, water treatment, cleaning, chemical injection and other applications where proportional dosing is required.
Does the MixRite TF2.5 need electricity?
No. The MixRite TF2.5 is water-driven and uses the pressure and flow of the water line to operate. This makes it suitable for irrigation, farm and remote installations where power may not be available.
What flow rate does the MixRite TF2.5 handle?
The MixRite TF2.5 operates from 10 L/h to 2,500 L/h. The P0 model can operate from 7 L/h.
What pressure range does the MixRite TF2.5 operate at?
The operating pressure range is 0.2 to 8 bar, or approximately 2.9 to 120 PSI. The owner or operator must ensure the system pressure and flow stay within the pump’s specifications.
What dosing ratios are available?
The MixRite TF2.5 range includes dosing options such as 0.1%–0.9%, 0.3%–2%, 0.4%–4%, and fixed dosing options including 1% fixed, 0.2% fixed and 0.8% fixed, depending on the selected model.
What connection size does the MixRite TF2.5 use?
The MixRite TF2.5 shown in the manual uses 3/4" BSPT male threaded inlet and outlet connections. NPT and compression options may also be available depending on the selected configuration.
How should the MixRite TF2.5 be installed?
The MixRite TF2.5 can be installed either inline or on a bypass line. The water flow direction must match the arrows on the pump, and the installation should include suitable valves, filtration, backflow prevention, pressure gauges and an anti-siphon valve where required.
What filtration is required?
Tefen recommends a 120 mesh / 130 micron filter before the pump. For water with high particle content, a 250 mesh / 60 micron filter may be used depending on water quality. The warranty section also notes that a 200 mesh filter must be used in front of the unit for warranty validity.
Where should the suction strainer sit in the additive tank?
The suction strainer should be suspended at least 10 cm / 4" above the bottom of the additive tank. This helps prevent insoluble particles from being drawn into the pump and damaging the internal assembly.
What maintenance is required?
After use, the pump should be flushed by drawing clean water through the suction tube. The inlet filter and suction filter should be cleaned regularly, seals should be replaced yearly, and the suction tube should be replaced if it becomes damaged by chemical exposure.
